*XTRA: Hands Unity File here: (* I included the WHOLE Unity Project, as some of you are having trouble with the package files. In this project are hand controllers using the XR Plugin Management System/ XR Interaction Toolkit + Using the Oculus OVR Camera Rig.
I've done all the scripting for the XR Interaction Toolkit hands presence for you, but you can go through the tutorial yourself here: (there are 3 tutorials). In my file I turned off the physics script and the hand disappearing script. This can also be found in the section of this class website.

GUIDELINES: from Macro Project
MACRO PROJECT PHASE ALPHA β This is the moment when you (or your team) begin to instantiate the ideas and concepts you have been developing over the course of the semester. It is now time to begin building (if you havenβt already begun) your project in Unity, or on alternative social VR or web VR platforms. At this point you can use primitive 3D objects and scratch track audio. It is more important to focus on the functionality you are planning to implement and to test your project in its target platform. You should be reading this in , and you have two weeks to create a simple build that will be part of your Midterm Presentation.
Using , (or whatever online presentation software you prefer) organize your Midterm Presentation in the following order:
Slide 1: A title slide with the name of your VR Macro Project and a one sentence description of the experience. Donβt forget to include your own name on this slide, as well as the course number and title and date. [approx. 30sec]
Slide 2: A (so describe a specific situation in which your VR Project would be used and who will be using it) [approx. 1min 30sec]
Slide 3: Your mood board [approx. 30sec]
Slide 4: (optional) Physical space layout documentation of your VR environment. [approx. 30sec]
Slide 5: A flow diagram (using liked you used in your project) [approx. 1min]
Slide 6: Your schedule with indications of where you are in your production pipeline [approx. 30sec]
Slide 7: (*optional) An embedded video recording of your playing the project in its target platform, with a 15 sec vertical slice (a fully functioning and polished segment of the experience used as proof-of-concept). [approx. 2min 30sec]
This portion of the presentation (based on our class size) should be limited to 7 minutes (see time approximations next to each slide). There will be 3-5 minutes for them to submit feedback to you on your project.
Slide 8: Your last slide should provide a link to your Audience Survey in Google forms. [keep on screen for approx. 3-5 min]
Slide 9: (optional) A thank you [at the end of your entire presentation]
NOTES:
Creating a Survey in Google Forms. Why?
An online survey is a great way to get honest answers from an audience about your product/experience.
It makes it easier for you to remember the important points.
It helps you keep a record of responses.
You remember things in the audienceβs word (avoiding your own potential bias in jotting their words down and paraphrasingβ¦recording the part you want to hear).
What to ask in your Survey?
Ask relevant questions, related to your goals in creating this VR experience.
Mix up your questions. Include rating, multiple choice, and long answer.
End with open-ended questions (opens you up to new possibilities or perspectives on approaching your project).
CREATING VR MACRO PROJECT COHORT GROUPS Mind mapping projects that have related themes or tech concerns (or both) and establishing cohort working groups for the rest of the semester.
Cohort Group Example from Fall 2019
BREAK OUT ROOMS : OPEN WORK SESSIONS
*You have β³five more weeks to complete this project.
READING/VIEWING 08: READ & VIEW the website of our visiting expert coming next week. Prepare questions or observations.
MACRO PROJECT ASSIGNMENT 04: FINAL STEPS >> (1) POST a Spreadsheet Analysis of your VR User Survey you had classmates fill out at today's midterm presentation. POST links to (2) the slides presentation you gave in class today, (3) your Google VR User Survey and to (4) your Spreadsheet Analysis on your class process blog. // (5) π WEEKS 08-11: Analysis and Iteration. Revisit your schedule and make necessary task and milestone updates. Make sure to schedule small changes (one or two at a time) and then schedule testing. ALL links to your analysis and revised schedule should be POSTED to your process blog (in the Macro Project section) each week.
