IN CLASS

DRAWING WARM-UP All markers to the white board. Draw whatever comes to mind...

OWS: You will work in class today with your teams! Polish your Iteration 01 of your annotated bibliography, moodboard, storyboard. Prepare it for presentation on Wed.

PRESENTATIONS GUIDELINES : "Art, in itself, is an attempt to bring order out of chaos.” Stephen Sondheim

  • 7 Groups (7 minutes presentation, 7 minute Q & A) Jason Lee - Debbie - Daniel : Kyle Cooper Tasmia - Ahmed - Michael : James Cameron Mike - Mariam - Dan : Federico Fellini Maria - Micah - Brien : Hayao Miyazaki Phoebe - Yuming - Peiyan : Cao Fei Emily - Gina - Leah : Hayao Miyazaki Kaitlyn - Kat - Jason : Russo Brothers

  1. When you are preparing your presentation, decide who will present each part: the intro, the draft of your annotated bibliography, the team mood board and the storyboard.

  2. Begin with your names (I know you all know each other but pretend this is an audience of strangers). As part of your introduction prepare a 1-3 sentence description of your project (the ). This should not be longer than 2 minutes. In your pitch explain to the audience what you collectively find most fascinating or inspiring about the person you’re producing a documentary on; how you relate to this person. You can do this with an or metaphor that serves as the frame for the description of your film. Your description should address your themes and goals, and an intriguing is a great way to keep the attention of your audience.

  3. Next you’ll present you’re supporting materials, annotated bibliography, mood board and storyboard. Have this all organized in Google slides or another presentation platform of your choosing. Please time this part of your presentation according to how long it takes to show each component within a seven minute window (minus your introduction and any conclusion you have prepared).

  4. NO APOLOGIZING for any aspect of your presentation. If something is not quite right, DO NOT let your audience know. If something isn’t working correctly skip it (if possible). Speak with confidence and conviction about the project you are presenting. Pretend this is “real world” in the sense that you’re out of school and trying to get funding for a project, and you need to convince your audience to believe you know what you’re doing and that your project is worthwhile.

  5. Q&A should include “constructive criticism.” (Constructive criticism is the process of offering valid and well-reasoned opinions about the work of others, usually involving both positive and negative comments, in a friendly manner rather than an oppositional one. The purpose of constructive criticism is to improve the outcome). You are doing each other a great service in discussing the works critically!
