9:30 - Noth Liu, a Brooklyn based multimedia artist & designer. Currently, she is a 2nd year MFA student in the major of interactive arts at Pratt Institute. She finished her undergraduate degree in China Academy of Fine Arts in 2018, and her major was digital display design. Her work ranges from Computer art/Interactive art/Virtual production/Mixed reality/Physical computing/Game design/Creative coding to Conceptual art/Experience design/Products design/Illustrations/Fine arts/. In her artist practice, she creates work based on current events, scientific facts, human behaviors. She mainly deals with extreme situations in real life and imaginary simulated scenarios. She expresses her concepts and provides the experiences for the audience through multi media. She favors mixed media for her artwork because it enables unlimited possibilities and for randomness to occur. She also uses narrative or interactive media to visualize, exaggerate, and reconstruct these scenarios. Her visual style is surrealism, combined with collage images, and subtle details of odd/ humorous elements.
11:00am - LaJuné Mcmillian, New Media Artist, Maker and Creative Technologist LaJuné is a new media artist and creative technologist creating art that integrates performance, extended reality, and physical computing to question our current forms of communication. LaJuné has had the opportunity to show and speak about their work at National Sawdust, Creative Tech Week, and Art && Code’s Weird Reality. LaJuné was previously the Director of Skating at Figure Skating in Harlem, where they integrated STEAM and figure skating to teach girls of color about movement and technology. They have continued their research on Blackness, movement, and technology during residencies at Eyebeam, Barbarian Group, and Barnard College.
